When to Start?
Dr. Matos and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, AAPD, recommend that your child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday! Just remember: First Visit by First Birthday! As a parent Stay Positive! Let your child discover how much fun it can be to have healthy teeth!
What should I expect at my child’s first dental visit? FUN!!!
At SPD we are all about kids, we have a kid friendly atmosphere that they will enjoy during the visit, including watching the TV’s suspended from the ceiling.
No worries, we will also talk with parents about how to manage diet, hygiene and fluoride to prevent dental problems.
Specifically we discuss:
-How to care for an infant’s or toddler’s mouth
-Proper use of fluoride
-Oral habits, including finger and thumb sucking
-Ways to prevent accidents that could damage the face and teeth
-Teething and milestones of development
-The link between diet and oral health
Of course we will also clean your child's teeth, provide an examination by one of our pediatric dentists and apply a flouride treatment.
