We've been twice and have great experiences both times. The staff is super friendly, Erica was my daughter's hygienist... and she was great with my 4 year old. They get you in and out quickly and try to help your little one feel at ease, the in room TVs make a nervous experience fun. They happily answer questions and give tips. I plan on continuing here until my daughter ages more

My kids always love going to the dentist! Dr Matos and his team are so incredibly patient and gentle, it makes visits... such a pleasure. Even my 2 year old sits in the chair and enjoys his cleanings. I’m so thankful my kids get to have a positive experience at a pediatric dental office that makes visits fun and enjoyable compared to dreading dentist visits when I was a kid!read more

My 4 year old saw Yoana and Dr. Matos last week. Yoana is incredibly friendly and spoke directly to my daughter,... explaining the entire process. My daughter had a scary experience last time at a different dental office (not associated with this place), so she was pretty nervous. Yoana put her right at ease and my daughter opened her mouth and had the gentle cleaning done without issue.Dentist is also friendly, spoke directly to my daughter, and took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. (Some dentists completely ignore child patients and will only speak to the parent. I teach my children to be active and vocal in their medical care, so this is a huge positive for us)Front desk staff is also wonderful. Thank you!!read more

Most recent visit: This office is still great, my youngest needed outpatient to crown her molars but unfortunately it... was very hard to get in. A few months went by and we continued going to regular check ups. My youngest was doing good very well so Dr. Patel decided to go ahead and try the procedures in office. They are very serious about not having dental visits be traumatic experience. The day of our appointment my daughter let the dentist know which tooth was bothering her the most based on how bad the tooth got it had to come out. I could tell the doctor really cared and hated that it had to come to extraction without being out under. My daughter did cry but she also hugged the dentist after. For the last 2 teeth my youngest needs done I chose their option for sedation in office to complete the treatment plan. I’m grateful for the treatment options and the caring staff.Past Visit: This office is wonderful. The office is clean and has a great play area for the kids. One of my kids was traumatized at another dental office and after coming here she is no longer afraid. My oldest daughter asks which office we are going to because she doesn’t want to return to the old place they used to go. Here my kids fight about who gets to sit in the chair first. The staff is kind and more

Got Questions? Get the Answers
We know bringing your child to the dentist can inspire a whole host of questions. Our pediatric dentists provide the answers you need!
  • When should I bring my child in for his or her first dental visit?

As outlined by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry…Opens a new window to the AAPD website…, we recommend that a child’s first dental visit is scheduled by his or her first birthday.

It is essential to make the first visit positive and enjoyable for your child. That’s why we provide as many patient resources as possible. We want your child to enjoy getting to know Dr. Matos, Dr. Patel, and our staff while feeling at home.

A pleasant, comfortable first visit builds trust and helps put your child at ease during future dental visits.

  • Why are the primary teeth important?

Maintaining the health of primary teeth (baby teeth) is vital for oral development. Neglected cavities can and frequently do lead to problems. Primary teeth are essential for:

    1. Proper chewing and eating
    2. Providing space for the permanent teeth and guiding them into the correct position
    3. Permitting healthy development of the jaw bones and muscles

Primary teeth also affect the development of speech and add to an attractive appearance. While the front four teeth last until 6-7 years of age, the back teeth (cuspids and molars) aren’t replaced until age 10-13.

  • What’s the best toothpaste for my child?

Many toothpaste kinds can damage young smiles because they contain harsh abrasives that wear away immature tooth enamel. When looking for a toothpaste for your child, pick one recommended by the American Dental Association…Opens a new window to the ADA website… (as shown on the box and tube).

  • How do I prevent cavities?

Good oral hygiene removes bacteria and left-over food particles that create cavities.

For infants, use a wet gauze or clean washcloth to wipe the plaque from teeth and gums. Avoid putting your child to bed with a bottle filled with anything other than water.

Older children should brush their teeth at least twice a day. Also, be aware of the number of snacks containing sugar that you give your child.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends visits every six months to a pediatric dentist, beginning at your child’s first birthday. Routine visits will start your child on a lifetime of good dental health.

Dr. Matos or Dr. Patel may also recommend protective sealants or home fluoride treatments for your child. Sealants can be applied to your child’s molars to prevent decay on hard to clean surfaces.

  • What do I do during a dental emergency?

    • Clean the area of the affected tooth
    • Rinse the mouth with warm water or use dental floss to remove any food debris
    • Don’t place aspirin or heat on the gum or aching tooth
    • If the pain still persists, contact us
    • If the face is swollen, apply cold compresses and contact us immediately

Cut or bitten tongue, lip or cheek:

    • Apply ice to injured areas to help control swelling
    • If there’s bleeding, apply firm but gentle pressure with a gauze or cloth
    • If bleeding can’t be controlled, call a doctor or visit the hospital emergency room

    Knocked out permanent tooth:

    • If possible, find the tooth
    • Handle it by the crown, not by the root
    • Rinse the tooth with water ONLY
    • If the tooth is sound, try to reinsert it in the socket
    • Have the patient hold the tooth in place by biting on gauze
    • If you can’t reinsert the tooth, transport it in a cup containing the patient’s saliva or milk
    • Contact us IMMEDIATELY!

    Knocked out baby tooth:

    Chipped or fractured permanent tooth:

    Chipped or fractured baby tooth:

A severe blow to the head:

    • Take your child to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately

    Possible broken or fractured jaw:

    • Keep the jaw from moving and take your child to the nearest hospital emergency room
